- The Mariners were established as an expansion team in 1977 and played their first season in 1977. They are the first MLB team based in the Pacific Northwest.
- The Mariners have yet to win a World Series championship. However, they have made the playoffs four times in their history (1995, 1997, 2000, and 2001) and have had several memorable postseason moments.
- The Mariners' home stadium is T-Mobile Park, formerly known as Safeco Field, which has been their home since 1999. T-Mobile Park features a retractable roof and is known for its picturesque location and views of the Seattle skyline.
- The Mariners have had many star players throughout their history, including Ken Griffey Jr., who is widely regarded as one of the greatest outfielders of all time. Griffey Jr. played for the Mariners from 1989 to 1999 and again in 2009 and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016.
- In 2001, the Mariners tied the MLB record for most wins in a regular season with 116 victories. Led by manager Lou Piniella and a talented roster, the team achieved great success, although they were ultimately eliminated in the American League Championship Series.
- The Mariners are known for their iconic retired numbers. The team has retired the numbers of several legendary players, including Ken Griffey Jr. (24), Edgar Martinez (11), and Randy Johnson (51).
- Félix Hernández, often referred to as "King Félix," was one of the most dominant pitchers of his era and spent his entire 15-year career with the Mariners from 2005 to 2019. Hernández won the American League Cy Young Award in 2010.
- Ichiro Suzuki, a Japanese baseball icon, played for the Mariners from 2001 to 2012 and returned for a brief stint in 2018. Ichiro is known for his remarkable hitting ability, speed on the basepaths, and outstanding defensive skills. He became the first player in MLB history to accumulate 10 consecutive 200-hit seasons.
- The Mariners have a loyal fan base known as the "Mariners faithful." Despite the team's postseason challenges, the fans continue to support the team with passion and enthusiasm. The "Refuse to Lose" slogan became popular during the Mariners' memorable 1995 playoff run, and the "King's Court" section in T-Mobile Park is dedicated to honoring Félix Hernández during his starts.
